Gucci

The House of Gucci, better known simply as Gucci (Italian pronunciation: [ˈɡuttʃi]), is an Italian fashion and leather goods label, part of the Gucci Group, which is owned by French company PPR. Gucci was founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence in 1921.

Gucci generated circa € 4.2 billion in revenue worldwide in 2008 according to BusinessWeek magazine and climbed to 41st position in the magazine's annual 2009 "Top Global 100 Brands" chart created by Interbrand.[3] Gucci is also the biggest-selling Italian brand. Gucci operates about 278 directly operated stores worldwide (as of September 2009) and it wholesales its products through franchisees and upscale department stores.

Chanel

Chanel S.A., commonly known as Chanel (English: /ʃəˈnɛl/, French: [ʃanɛl]), is a French fashion house founded by the couturier Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, well established in haute couture, specializing in luxury goods (haute couture, ready-to-wear, handbags, perfumery, and cosmetics among others). She gained the name "Coco" while maintaining a career as a singer at a café in France. Chanel has catered to tastes in items such as simple suits, dresses, women's pants, and costume jewelry. Coco Chanel's vision was to replace such opulent, 'sexy' pieces with items which conveyed casual elegance. Today, Chanel is most famous for the "little black dress". According to Forbes, the privately held House of Chanel is jointly owned by Alain Wertheimer and Gerard Wertheimer who are the great-grandsons of the early (1924) Chanel partner Pierre Wertheimer.

Versace

Gianni Versace S.p.A. (Italian pronunciation: [ˈdʒanni veɾˈsaːʧe]), usually referred to as Versace, is an Italian fashion label founded by Gianni Versace in 1978.

The first Versace boutique was opened in Milan's Via della Spiga in 1978, (though the Versace family are from Reggio Calabria) and its popularity was immediate. Today, Versace is one of the world's leading international fashion houses. Versace designs, markets and distributes luxury clothing, accessories, fragrances, makeup and home furnishings under the various brands of the Versace Group. In 1994, the brand became a household name after the widespread coverage of the Black Versace dress of Elizabeth Hurley.

Polo Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren pronounced LAU-ren (born October 14, 1939) is an American fashion designer and business executive; best known for his Polo Ralph Lauren clothing brand.

EARLY LIFE

Ralph Lauren was born Ralph Lifshitz in The Bronx, New York, to Ashkenazi Jewish immigrants, from Pinsk, Belarus: Fraydl (Kotlar) and Frank Lifshitz, a house painter.

Casadei

The Casadei label was founded in 1958 by Quinto and Flora Casadei. Quinto Casadei—still at the helm of the footwear and leather facilities of S. Mauro Pascoli in the province of Forli—proved strong and true when he decided to expand his small crafts laboratory, in which he had already started to produce dream footwear of sophisticated workmanship.

This entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit enabled Casadei to go beyond Italy’s borders in long-ago 1964, already a vocation for anticipating styles and trends was transmitted in its entirety to the second-generation top management, Cesare Casadei, who joined his father Quinto’s company in 1987.

Bruno Magli
Bruno Magli is an Italian shoemaker, designing and handcrafting high-quality luxury shoes and accessories.

History

After learning the art from their grandfather, Magli and his siblings Marino and Maria started crafting women's shoes in a small basement in Bologna, Italy, in 1936. In 1947, the first factory was built, which also produced men's shoes. The current plant was built in 1969. In the 1980s, the Magli company developed a franchising retail network which led, in about twenty years, to around 40 "franchises", strewn around Europe, America, Japan, China and other Asian countries, and Australia.
Magli is now a privately-held upscale brand leader in men's and women's footwear, leather clothing, women's handbags, luggage items, small leather goods, and other accessories.

Fendi


Fendi is an Italian high fashion house best known for its "baguette" handbags. It was launched in 1925 as a fur and leather shop in Rome, but today is a multinational luxury goods brand owned by LVMH. Karl Lagerfeld is the creative director.

History

Foundations
The company was started in 1913 by Mario Prada and his brother Martino as a leathergoods shop - Fratelli Prada (English: Prada Brothers) - in Milan, Italy.Initially, the shop sold leather goods and imported English steamer trunks and handbags.

Mario Prada did not believe that women should have a role in business, and so he prevented female family members from entering into his company. Ironically, Mario's son harbored no interest in the business, so it was his daughter Luisa Prada who took the helm of Prada as his successor, and ran it for almost twenty years. Her own daughter, Miuccia Prada, joined the company in 1970, eventually taking over for her mother in 1978.

Diesel


Diesel S.p.A. is an Italian design company. It is best known for luxury, pret-a-porter clothing aimed at the young adult market, particularly jeans. The company is owned by its founder Renzo Rosso, and is based in Breganze in northern Italy.
